Monitoring, Evaluation, & Learning (MEL) Specialist

About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation, & Learning (MEL) Specialist will lead the design and implementation of MEL systems across a regional network of child‑rights advocacy programs. Based in Addis Ababa, the role supports data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement for both national and regional initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a network‑wide MEL framework and associated data collection tools.
• Monitor progress against strategic indicators, producing quarterly and annual performance reports.
• Analyze data to generate actionable insights for program managers and partners.
• Facilitate learning sessions, workshops, and capacity‑building activities for member organizations.
• Coordinate with regional teams to ensure consistent data quality and reporting standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of four years proven MEL experience within NGOs, CSOs, or similar development settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and travel regionally as needed.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of MEL methodologies and indicator development.
• Experience designing data collection instruments and managing databases.
• Proficiency in preparing clear, concise reports for diverse audiences.
