Project Director – Healthcare Fitout & MEPF Delivery

About the role

The client seeks an experienced expatriate Project Director to lead the construction‑phase delivery of a private hospital in Addis Ababa. The role is site‑based and focuses on MEPF, fit‑out, testing, commissioning and final hand‑over of a $20 million project.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day project management during MEPF and fit‑out phases.
• Coordinate all site interfaces among consultants, contractors, suppliers and the PMO.
• Maintain and report against the master programme and procurement schedules.
• Lead progress meetings, manage RFIs, shop‑drawing reviews and design coordination.
• Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, quality assurance, snagging and defect management.
• Monitor risks, contractor performance and commercial interfaces.
• Align delivery with RIBA Stage 4 documentation and international healthcare standards.
• Support procurement activities, contractor onboarding and mobilisation.
• Oversee site reporting, practical completion, hand‑over and close‑out processes.

Required profile

• Advanced written and spoken English.
• Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in construction project delivery, preferably client‑side or PMC.
• Strong background in healthcare, hospital or other mission‑critical projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams on live construction sites.
• Experience in international projects, especially in Africa or the Middle East.
