Education Manager – Play Matters Project

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Education Manager to oversee the delivery of the PM3.0 core package within the Play Matters project in Ethiopia. The role focuses on supporting partner organizations, monitoring progress, and ensuring inclusive, equitable access to education for crisis‑affected communities in Harar and Jigjiga.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic education initiatives development and implementation in collaboration with implementing partners.
• Represent IRC education programs in inter‑agency coordination meetings at regional, zonal and woreda levels.
• Identify critical education needs and assist in securing funding through rapid assessments, concept notes and proposals.
• Capture lessons learned from partner‑implemented projects to inform program scale‑up.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, mentoring and technical guidance to partners delivering the PM3.0 core package.
• Liaise with government officials and system actors to ensure effective program planning and implementation.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as requested by managers.

Required profile

• Experience working in education programs within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong collaboration and coordination skills with partners, government, and inter‑agency bodies.
• Ability to conduct rapid needs assessments and develop concept notes or proposals.
• Commitment to inclusive education for boys, girls, persons with special needs and all community members.
