Gender, Equality & Inclusion Specialist

About the role

The Gender, Equality & Inclusion Specialist will support Plan International’s strategy by mainstreaming gender equality and inclusion across all programmes, ensuring gender‑transformative approaches and empowering girls, women and persons with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning of programmes and projects.
• Ensure all project activities are gender‑transformative and aligned with Plan’s Gender Policy.
• Integrate gender and inclusion indicators into proposals and project designs.
• Develop guidelines and systems for gender mainstreaming and allocate budgets for gender‑equality activities.
• Prepare operational plans, annual and quarterly implementation plans, and budget submissions.
• Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation systems that reflect gender principles.
• Document best practices, case studies and lessons learned, and disseminate them widely.
• Build capacity of local partners and staff on gender mainstreaming, budgeting and inclusive project management.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations, workshops and experience‑sharing visits at national, regional and district levels.
• Establish partnerships and networks with NGOs, government bodies and community organisations to mobilise resources and scale‑up initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in gender equality, inclusion and gender‑transformative approaches within development programmes.
• Ability to provide technical assistance on gender mainstreaming, budgeting and monitoring.
• Strong capacity‑building and partnership development skills.
• Proficiency in preparing operational plans, reports and documentation.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for workshops and stakeholder engagement.
