About the role

The Health Employment Lead provides strategic and operational leadership for the Health Employment pillar of the Community Health Workers programme in Ethiopia. The role drives initiatives that professionalise community health workers, create dignified employment pathways and strengthen health workforce development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of pre‑service and degree‑level health workforce training programmes.
• Align workforce education with labour market needs and national health system priorities.
• Coordinate with country programme leadership, universities, government agencies and implementing partners.
• Oversee operational systems that enable effective programme delivery and monitoring.
• Ensure partnerships with academic institutions contribute to programme objectives and health system strengthening.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong programme management experience in health or development sectors.
• Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with proven ability to build and sustain multi‑stakeholder partnerships.
• Demonstrated experience in health workforce development or community health programmes.
