Business Development Manager – Ethiopia Market Expansion

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead our client’s entry into the Ethiopian market. You will be responsible for establishing a local entity, building banking and regulatory relationships, and driving adoption of FX and blockchain‑powered financial solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support incorporation of the Ethiopian entity and set up local banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian regulatory frameworks.
• Coordinate onboarding with FX brokers, crypto exchanges, and payment service providers.
• Identify and acquire high‑net‑worth individuals, institutional players, fintechs, corporates and SMEs.
• Build strategic partnerships with banks, payment providers, fintech platforms and blockchain ecosystem participants.
• Represent the client with regulators and authorities.
• Monitor market developments, regulatory changes and competitive dynamics.
• Collaborate with global trading, operations, compliance, legal and finance teams.
• Maintain entity administration, filings and accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years experience in banking, FX/trading, fintech or crypto/blockchain.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, cross‑border transactions and FX frameworks.
• Knowledge of the Ethiopian financial services landscape and East‑African regulatory environment.
• Proven track record of market entry, client acquisition and revenue generation.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English.
