National Consultant on Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies

About the role
Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist in Tigray, the National Consultant will lead the gender‑based violence (GBV) work stream within the Child Protection section. The role combines office‑based coordination with field travel to ensure effective implementation of GBV programmes in emergency settings.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and contribute to the GBV work stream, providing technical inputs to ongoing programmes.
- Coordinate and monitor GBV activities, ensuring quality control of results.
- Support capacity‑building initiatives, promote innovation and manage knowledge‑sharing processes.
- Lead advocacy, networking and partnership‑building efforts with relevant stakeholders.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
- Minimum two years of professional experience in GBV in emergencies, preferably with a UN agency.
- Field experience in managing GBV projects.
- Fluency in written and oral English and proficiency in Tigrigna.
