Assistant Manager - Banking Operations

About the role

Hibret Bank, a licensed Ethiopian bank founded in 1998, is hiring an Assistant Manager in Addis Ababa. This is a full-time hybrid position with some flexibility for working from home. The Assistant Manager supports branch or department leadership in day-to-day operations, supervising staff, coordinating workflows and ensuring adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor service quality, handle complex customer inquiries and support the resolution of operational issues.
• Assist in planning and implementing business activities, prepare and review reports, and track performance against targets.
• Contribute to staff coaching and development, and support risk management and internal control activities.
• Collaborate with other units to improve processes and customer experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or senior officer role in a bank or financial institution is highly beneficial.
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability and commitment to customer-focused, non-discriminatory service.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, both on-site and remotely.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of banking operations, branch procedures, customer service standards and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting and basic accounting principles for retail and commercial banking.
• Leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, performance monitoring and staff coaching.
• Competence in standard office software and core banking systems, with openness to learning new digital tools.
