Finance Manager - Humanitarian NGO

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council, a leading humanitarian NGO, is looking for a Finance Manager for its Addis Ababa Country Office. The role keeps the finance function healthy and stable, supports donor relationships and localisation efforts, and complies with DRC procedures and guidelines. It also gives technical guidance to country operations and contributes to country strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the financial health and stability of the country office and foster strong donor relationships
• Support and give technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country finance activities
• Help develop country strategies and turn them into action plans and day-to-day tasks
• Manage the Finance department, including hiring, suspending, laying off, dismissing or assigning staff as needed

Required profile

• At least 5 years' experience in a senior financial management position
• At least 3 years' experience with people management
• Proven experience managing large budgets of international humanitarian organisations
• Experience working with national partners, local and government authorities and with donors such as NORAD, SIDA, EU, ECHO, DANIDA, SDC, FCDO and others
• Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field, and a professional accounting certification
• Full professional proficiency in English; only qualified Ethiopian nationals are invited to apply

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and experience with a financial IT system, particularly Microsoft Dynamics
• Understanding of donor financial rules and reporting requirements
• Leadership, people management and ability to work independently and multitask

What we offer

• 12-month contract with possibility of extension, national contract, Band F1
• Duty station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; the position is not eligible for relocation
• Start date: 1 January 2027; salary according to DRC's terms of employment for national employees
