Finance Manager

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council, a leading humanitarian NGO, is looking for a Finance Manager for its Addis Ababa country office. The role keeps the organisation financially healthy, strengthens donor relationships and supports localisation, while ensuring compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines. It also gives the Finance Manager the power to manage hiring, suspension, dismissal and assignment of Finance staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Finance team, including recruitment, performance appraisals, coaching and handling poor performance and disciplinary cases
• Manage finance tasks across Addis Ababa and field offices: financial planning and analysis, cash flow, financial risk, budgeting and reporting, compliance and capacity building
• Support financial management capacity building for the country team and area finance teams, and organise in-service training and mentoring
• Oversee financial reporting to donors and HQ, prepare monthly financial briefings and take part in budget follow-up and project monitoring meetings
• Collect cash forecasts from programme managers, monitor funding levels and shared costs, and ensure audit documentation is ready
• Keep the Master Budget up to date in Dynamics, run monthly gap analyses and coordinate the allocation table and resource scheduling
• Supervise financial controls, audits and corrective actions, and support the Head of Support Services and senior management in liaising with auditors and government officials
• Ensure DRC Dynamics and ERP finance processes are applied correctly, provide ERP support to field offices and train non-finance staff
• Travel to field locations about 30% of the time to oversee field office financial systems
