Deputy Director of Grants and Partnerships

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Deputy Director of Grants and Partnerships to lead resource mobilisation and partnership development in Ethiopia. Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the Director of Programs, the role will drive strategic growth, ensure donor compliance and enhance the organisation’s visibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the Business Development Action Plan, translating strategy into operational priorities and measurable targets.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, monitor donor trends and advise senior leadership on partnership models.
• Oversee the full grant lifecycle, ensuring compliance, high‑quality reporting and timely submissions.
• Strengthen grant‑tracking systems and build staff capacity in grants management and donor relations.
• Develop and manage relationships with new and existing partners aligned with IRC’s mission.
• Monitor programmatic and budgetary performance, ensuring adherence to IRC and donor regulations.
• Prepare regular progress reports for the Senior Management Team and external donors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in grant management, fundraising or partnership development within the humanitarian or nonprofit sector.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a track record of meeting growth targets.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to work with diverse country, regional and headquarters teams.
• Ability to operate under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
