Factory Production Manager

About the role

A reputable manufacturing company based in Ethiopia, represented by Shugulika Africa Limited, is looking for an experienced Factory Production Manager to lead and optimise daily manufacturing operations. The role keeps production running at full design capacity while meeting quality and safety standards, and covers workforce management, safety compliance and workplace development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan production (labour, materials and machines) according to the schedule and confirm feasibility with the Supply Chain Manager
• Balance production flow and line speed, and develop throughput and labour standards
• Monitor process losses using mass balances, record downtime and run root cause analysis
• Manage temporary labour, allocate staff and build team morale through performance reviews and coaching
• Monitor product quality, run quality audits, issue NCRs and enforce GMP and approved recipes
• Develop and manage Best Operating Practices (BOPs) and product safety systems including HACCP, hygiene, sanitation and pest control
• Lead the factory's safety system, investigate accidents and manage the maintenance strategy and budget
• Run workplace development programs, shift handovers, waste disposal and visual display systems, and manage finished goods stock and returns
• Implement Key 1 housekeeping standards and lead small group activities for continuous improvement

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years managing full factory operations, including planning, throughput, quality and labour
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance
• Proven leadership, coaching and appraisal experience
• Excellent communication across departments and with all levels of staff
