Lead B1 Certifying Engineer (Airline Maintenance)

About the role

Air Arabia is recruiting a Lead B1 Certifying Engineer through its invitation-only engineering recruitment event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in mid-November 2026. Candidates should apply only if they can attend the event after being shortlisted and invited; event details are shared only with shortlisted candidates. The role leads a team of B1 Engineers and acts as B1 Certifying Engineer and Category C, ensuring maintenance and repair of aircraft meets airline and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that maintenance tasks are carried out to the required standard by the Certifying Engineers.
• Distribute and allocate maintenance tasks to B1 Engineers and Lead Technicians so they finish on time and in line with airline and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor the performance of B1 Engineers on shift and give regular feedback to the Shift Manager.
• Guide Base Maintenance Engineers and Lead Technicians, troubleshoot defects and escalate issues with suggested corrective measures.
• Initiate cost-saving projects, develop the skills of technicians and engineers and orient new joiners.
• Manage human factors and handover procedures to protect the continuity of critical maintenance tasks.
• Prepare and perform scheduled maintenance according to task cards, review task cards with the Shift Manager, and carry out tests and inspections.
• Troubleshoot and rectify defects in line with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, sign off completed tasks and coordinate with colleagues.
• Protect yourself and others, follow safety measures and minimise waste of consumables and parts.

Required profile

• EASA Part 66 or GCAA CAR 66 B1 license (unrestricted) with company maintenance approvals on Airbus A320/A321.
• Category C authorization.
• 2+ years of experience and in-depth knowledge of B1 maintenance practices.
• Ability to lead and guide a team of aircraft engineers and technicians.
• Fluent English, verbal and written.
