Logistics Assistant

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is hiring a Logistics Assistant in Mekele, Ethiopia. The postholder supports the delegation's logistics team by following up on and handling requests for purchasing, warehousing, supply chain management and statistics in line with ICRC logistics standards. The role is national/resident, open to Ethiopian nationals only, at 100% working rate, on a one-year fixed-term contract subject to extension.

Key responsibilities

• Meet with internal customers for collaborative demand planning and forecasting
• Handle all order management and requests from internal customers and departments
• Maintain, follow up and report on inventory, warehousing, purchasing and fleet, and manage transport of goods and field trips according to safety rules
• Handle import-export formalities and direct cargo imports where needed
• Fil and archive documents carefully, including confidential ones
• Collect, enter, analyse and report logistics data with the logistics site manager
• Manage the logistics information system (FSS/JDE)
• Brief and train logistics staff, and supervise, monitor and appraise warehouse and fleet staff in Mekele

Required profile

• Diploma or BA degree in logistics, supply chain management or a related field
• Very good spoken and written English and Tigrigna
• Minimum three years' experience in a similar field
• INGO experience is an asset; detailed knowledge of the local area is also an asset
• Third-grade driving licence is an asset
