Storekeeper 1 - Warehouse

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is recruiting a Storekeeper 1 in Mekele, Ethiopia, to handle and store goods in the warehouse in line with standard operating procedures. The post is open to Ethiopian nationals only, is full-time, and is a one-year fixed-term contract subject to extension depending on performance and budget.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and check incoming goods against the delivery note, and ensure goods are properly stored, picked, packed, labelled and loaded
• Keep goods labelled (expiry dates, batch numbers, manufacturer) and record them; weigh and tally goods during loading and unloading
• Update bin cards and stock cards during inventory transactions, take part in inventory counts and keep equipment and materials tidy
• Ensure FIFO stock rotation or follow FEFO, monitor monthly expiry dates and report items with a short shelf life to the warehouse officer 2
• Maintain the cold chain during transport when needed and ensure medical goods comply with local pharmaceutical laws
• Check received goods against the purchase order/waybill, verify batch tracing and perform quality control on kind, quantity, packaging, shelf life and labelling
• Organize the return or exchange of rejected goods under the supervision of the warehouse officer 2, and register the disposal of expired and damaged medical goods
• Provide data for monthly statistics, keep records and archives, and back up computer files weekly
• Represent the ICRC appropriately and accept additional duties related to medical operations

Required profile

• Diploma in logistics, supply chain management, pharmacy technician or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of storekeeping experience; NGO and medical warehouse experience are assets
• Good command of English or Tigrigna
• Open to Ethiopian nationals only
