Mental Health and Psycho‑Social Support Officer

About the role

The Mental Health and Psycho‑Social Support (MHPSS) Officer will support planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of MHPSS interventions delivered through the Mobile Health and Nutrition Team in targeted woredas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct mental health and psychosocial assessments, provide Psychological First Aid, basic psychosocial support, psycho‑education, trauma‑healing interventions and individual or group counselling.
• Facilitate protection‑sensitive psychosocial activities for vulnerable groups and support community‑based trauma‑healing and resilience‑building initiatives.
• Integrate MHPSS services into Primary Health Care, applying mhGAP approaches and establishing safe referral pathways.
• Strengthen capacity of community workers, volunteers and frontline providers on MHPSS approaches, protection principles and trauma‑informed care.
• Monitor activity implementation, ensure adherence to technical standards and humanitarian principles, and prepare high‑quality narrative and quantitative reports.

Required profile

• Experience delivering MHPSS interventions in conflict‑affected or humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with health, nutrition, protection actors, government structures and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge of protection‑sensitive service delivery and survivor‑centred approaches.
