MHPSS Officer

About the role

The MHPSS Officer will improve access to quality mental health and psychosocial support for vulnerable and conflict‑affected populations in the East Hararghe Zone. The role involves planning, coordinating and monitoring MHPSS activities at the woreda level, integrating services with health, nutrition and protection platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement MHPSS interventions, including Psychological First Aid, trauma‑healing activities and counseling.
• Integrate MHPSS services into primary health care and community‑based platforms, ensuring referral pathways and compliance with national guidelines.
• Monitor implementation, collect accurate data, produce monthly reports and ensure quality assurance of all activities.
• Participate in coordination meetings with government, UN agencies and NGOs, representing World Vision Ethiopia.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, mental health, social work or related field.
• Minimum 2 years (MSc) or 4 years (BSc) experience in MHPSS programming within an international NGO or humanitarian setting.
• Experience delivering community‑based MHPSS interventions and working with health and protection actors.

Required skills

• Psychological First Aid (PFA) and trauma‑informed care.
• Case management, referral coordination and documentation.
• Monitoring and reporting tools in collaboration with MEAL teams.
