Programme Consultant

About the role

UN Women’s Liaison Office to the African Union (AU) and UNECA is seeking a Programme Consultant to support the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) and related programmes. The role will provide programme, operational and administrative assistance across eleven African countries, working closely with the operations and programme teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide programme‑matic, operational and administrative support for the AGCCI biennial programme in eleven African countries.
• Coordinate with UN Women regional offices, AU bodies, civil society and national stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of gender‑responsive ICT and STEM activities.
• Assist in monitoring, reporting and documentation of programme progress and outcomes.
• Support the management of core funding initiatives under the AU Liaison Office (AULO).
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Liaison Office, partner organisations (AU Commission, ITU) and donor agencies.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in programme management, international development or related fields.
• Experience working in multi‑country programmes, preferably in Africa.
• Strong understanding of gender equality, women’s empowerment and ICT/STEM education.
• Excellent organisational and coordination skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in programme monitoring and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with UN Women policies and procedures.
