Project Associate – Immigration & Border Governance

About the role

The Project Associate (IBG) will support the operational coordination and implementation of Immigration and Border Governance projects in Ethiopia, focusing on the regional counter‑smuggling programme and related activities. The role involves organising trainings, workshops, and meetings, and maintaining close liaison with government counterparts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordination and follow‑up of capacity‑building activities such as trainings, workshops, validation meetings and field missions.
• Support logistical arrangements and operational follow‑up for activities across Addis Ababa, airports, land borders and other implementation sites.
• Maintain regular communication with immigration, police, justice and other relevant government stakeholders.
• Track implementation progress against work plans, activity schedules and deliverables.
• Prepare training and visibility materials, meeting summaries, briefing notes and draft operational documents.
• Coordinate assessments, studies and consultancies, including follow‑up with service providers and consultants.
• Undertake duty travel to implementation sites as required and support related IBG initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies or a related field.
• Experience in project coordination, capacity building or work with government agencies is desirable.
