Senior Health Specialist

About the role

The Senior Health Specialist provides national technical leadership for integrated health programming within FCI, covering HIV, TB, maternal, newborn and child health, and nutrition. This fixed‑term position translates approved activities and budgets into implementation plans and supports service‑delivery standards, mentorship and community‑facility linkages.

Key responsibilities

• Lead national technical planning and develop detailed implementation plans for integrated HIV/TB, MNCH and nutrition services across hubs, spokes and community platforms.
• Develop and adapt training, coaching and mentorship approaches for health workers, and provide technical support to address service‑delivery and quality gaps.
• Monitor delivery of health activities against milestones, outputs and budgets, coordinating with finance, sourcing and MEAL colleagues.
• Strengthen referral pathways and community case‑finding, identifying barriers to access and coordinating corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Ministry of Health, regional authorities, FBO partners and consortium teams, contributing to technical reviews and reporting.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, maternal and child health, nutrition, nursing or related field.
• Minimum six years of experience in HIV/TB programming, MNCH, nutrition or integrated health programs, preferably USG‑funded.
• Experience in training, mentorship, supportive supervision and quality improvement.
• Experience working with government health structures and community platforms is desirable.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of HIV and TB prevention, testing, treatment, retention and referral systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition screening, counselling and integrated primary health service delivery.
• Ability to interpret program data, identify performance gaps and translate findings into technical actions.
• Facilitation, mentoring, coordination, planning and problem‑solving skills.
