About the role

Awash Insurance is seeking an Underwriting Officer II to join its team in Addis Ababa. This permanent role will support the underwriting, claims and reinsurance functions, ensuring accurate risk assessment and policy issuance.

Key responsibilities

Evaluate insurance applications and assess associated risks.
Collaborate with claims and reinsurance teams to ensure consistent underwriting decisions.
Maintain underwriting records in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and pricing adjustments.

Required profile

BSc/BA in Marketing Management, Accounting & Finance, Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, covering underwriting, claims or reinsurance.
Preferred age below 35 years.
Strong interpersonal communication and leadership abilities.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Highly motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
