Human Resources Officer (UN Economic Commission for Africa)

About the role

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa is seeking a Human Resources Officer to support its Strategy & Information Management Unit. The role focuses on managing HR data, reporting, and system optimisation to enable evidence‑based decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and regularly update organisational structures and staffing tables in Umoja and related HR systems, ensuring data integrity.
• Produce, validate and disseminate periodic and ad‑hoc HR reports and dashboards using Power BI, providing analytics for strategic decisions.
• Support HR strategy implementation by designing data solutions, automating workflows, and managing change initiatives.
• Coordinate compliance with HR policies, oversee documentation, and assist audit processes and data‑governance activities.
• Provide advisory support on HR data, systems, and information‑management queries to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Information Management, Data Analytics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in HR management, including use of ERP/recruitment platforms and data‑visualisation tools.
• Professionalism with strong planning, organisational and analytical abilities, and capacity to work under pressure.
• Technological awareness and willingness to apply new technologies to HR processes.
